Doris Brown Jones, born on February 7, 1932, in Pickens, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Anderson, South Carolina. She was 93 years old.
Doris grew up on a farm in Fork Shoals and moved to Greenville when she was a teenager. She worked at Woolworth's and later took a job as a seamstress at Stone Manufacturing.
A skilled seamstress, Doris took pride in sewing, creating pieces that reflected both craftsmanship and care. Her love of gardening filled her surroundings with beauty and offered her a peaceful retreat. Fishing was another favorite pastime—an opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy its quiet rhythms.
Those who knew Doris will remember her for her beautiful roses, homemade fig preserves and handwoven blankets and embroidered linens shared with her family. Whether tending to her garden or casting a line into still waters, she embraced each moment with strength and a great sense of humor.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and serve as a lasting tribute to a life lived with quiet dignity.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly McKibben (Bobby) of Bluffton, South Carolina and Donna Durnford (Van) of Harstine, Washington and her son Jason Jones (Jan) of Anderson, South Carolina, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
