Douglas Keating

1966 - 2025

Douglas Arthur “Dougie” Keating, Jr., age 59, passed away on September 25, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on March 14, 1966, in Bellevue, Washington, Doug lived a life marked by deep connections, enduring love, and a generous spirit.

Doug was the beloved son of Douglas and Lani Keating and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. He is remembered with affection by his sisters Debbie, Teresa, Carol, Lisa, and Allison; his brothers John, Mark, and Troy; his daughter Kayla; and his son Eldon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beverly; and his brother Derek.

Though Doug never had biological children of his own, he held a special place in his heart for his nieces as well as his great-nephews and great-niece. His love for them was evident in the joy he found in their company and the pride he took in their lives.

Doug’s early years were filled with energy and enthusiasm. He played baseball when he was younger—a sport that remained close to his heart throughout his life. A devoted Seattle Mariners fan, Doug would cheer with excitement at every home run, exclaiming “BOOM!” with infectious joy.

Music was another lifelong passion for Doug. Whether singing karaoke or drumming along to songs with perfect timing on imaginary drums, he found happiness in rhythm and melody. His love for music brought lightness to those around him and created lasting memories for friends and family alike.

Doug’s kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He was known for being compassionate and always willing to help others—even during times when he himself needed support. His selflessness touched many lives over the years.

One of the most meaningful moments in Doug’s life came on September 15th, 2023. After nearly four decades of witnessing from loved ones, Doug called to share that he had accepted the Lord as his Savior. Though life continued to present challenges for him afterward, this decision brought comfort to those who cared deeply for him—knowing they will see him again one day.

Doug also played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of those around him. In July 1984 at Context training, he introduced Shawn to someone who would become their lifelong partner—an introduction that sparked love at first sight and led to a relationship spanning more than 37 years. It was also Doug who introduced Lisa to medical coding as a career path—one she continues to pursue passionately today with two professional credentials.

Douglas Arthur “Dougie” Keating Jr.’s memory will live on through the stories shared by those who loved him—the laughter over karaoke nights, the cheers during Mariners games, the quiet moments of kindness extended without hesitation. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on October 18, 2025, at 02:00 PM at North Sound Church 404 Bell Street
