Dr. Carmen Mariano's beautiful life ended peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 leaving us all with 78 years of beautiful memories that we share and cherish. He leaves behind his wife DeeDee (Fagerlund) who together, for 52 years, shared of a rich, joyful and loving life.
He is survived by his sister Natalie Mariano, who he was always so proud of, "The Real Doctor." Natalie and her wife, Shelley Fenily, are residents of Falmouth.
Beloved son of the late Luigi and Helena (Papile) Mariano.
Carmen leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, John and Bonnie Fagerlund, and their three beautiful children, Eric Fagerlund and his wife Amy, Justine Fagerlund Corte and her husband David and son Benjamin, and Amy Fagerlund. Carmen also leaves a niece, Kristen Manzer, and was brother-in-law of the late Martha Manzer.
Carmen touched thousands of lives during his long career in education and will be remembered by countless students, student-athletes, co-workers, and friends for his passion, his devotion, and his kindness.
Carmen was a humble man whose strength was in his contagious smile, and brilliant "words." He never stopped writing, telling his stories to make you laugh, to hear his voice and to share his smile. And, he never stopped sending his "Carmen Notes" and he always remembered your name!
Carmen's family and friends were like the pillars on his porch; he knew you were there to lean on and to hold him up.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Paul's Church, 147 North Street, Hingham, on Saturday, October 25, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Following the interment services, DeeDee graciously invites everyone to share a hug with her at a Celebration of Life reception at the Fox & Hound Tavern, 123 Sea Street, Quincy. DeeDee loves and cares for everyone who was a part of the life they shared.
