It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Donald Mitchell Cohen, on November 2, 2025, in Boynton Beach, Florida. Born on June 10, 1947, in Bayside, New York, to loving parents Julius and Miriam Cohen, Donald lived a life defined by compassion, integrity, and a boundless dedication to others.

A respected and admired Oral Pathologist, Dr. Cohen devoted his life to caring for patients and educating future generations of dental professionals. His passion for teaching was unmatched—he inspired countless residents with his wisdom, patience, and unwavering belief in the power of education. He was especially dedicated to empowering women in Dentistry, championing equality and opportunity throughout his career. Don will be remembered as a kind, warm-hearted soul who embodied goodness, integrity and generosity, as well as for his wonderful, witty dry sense of humor.

Outside of his remarkable professional achievements, Dr. Cohen cherished time with his family and friends. He delighted in watching his children and grandchildren grow, teaching his daughters to play basketball, and sharing his passion for pathology. He enjoyed fishing with one of his best friends Mel, staying active, and advocating for healthy living. A loyal fan of both the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Florida Gators, he also loved reading, mentoring, and offering pearls of wisdom to those around him.

Dr. Cohen is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Cohen; his sister, Lenore Glickman; his loving children, Risa Skibell (husband Bentley Skibell), Renee Garivay (husband Andrew Garivay), and Robyn McCarthy; and his adored grandchildren, Parker, Andre, Kal-el, Liam, Samuel, and Samantha.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at South Florida Jewish Cemetery, 6081 S South Congress Ave, Atlantis, FL 33462.

May the memory of Dr. Donald Mitchell Cohen be a blessing and an inspiration. His kindness, intellect, and love will live forever live in the hearts of those who were privileged and honored to know him. The world has lost a gifted pathologist, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (“Papa” to some), and above all, an extraordinary human being. He lived his life through sharing, caring, compassion, kindness, generosity, and an enduring ability to make others smile. Our hearts are truly shattered.
