Dr. Loretta June Sims

Dr. Loretta June Sims, age 62, was born on December 22, 1962, in Gary, Indiana to Rosie Hillard and James Sims. On October 5, 2025, Loretta went home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Hillard and James Sims, and her brother, Russell Sims. Loretta leaves to cherish her sisters Jacqueline Sims, Mona (Kelvin) Bell, La'Donna Hillard, brothers, Roland Whiting, James "Charles" Hillard, Robert Hillard Jr., special friend, Shelia Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends whom her memory will live on in their hearts. She earned her PhD in Education at Chicago State University in 2018. Her final professional role was with 21st Century of Gary, Indiana, where she was a second-grade teacher.
