Dr. Roma Smith Eckrich was born on May 6, 1940, in Owosso, Michigan, and passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Myrtle Smith. Roma is survived by her brother, David Smith, and his wife, Margo; her children, Mike Eckrich and his wife, Doris; Jeff Eckrich and his wife, Connie; Andrew Eckrich and his wife, Karissa; and Caren Eckrich.
She is also survived by many special people in her life including Anna Jones, Franz Roefs, and Jessica Smith.
Roma was grandmother to Yolande, Belle, Lore, Jacob, Mickey, Bonnie, and Annabelle, adoptive grandchildren Storm and Ocean, great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren, and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Roma received her PHD in clinical psychology from the University of Texas in Arlington and worked in both private practice and elderly care for many years. She loved music, travel, family gatherings, games of every kind, winning, theatre, holding court, and to debate politics.
