Edith (Edie) Peacock Mayer, aged 96, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edie led a life devoted to service, integrity and community engagement. Throughout her career she held numerous public‑service positions, including as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, where she earned a reputation for dedication to good governance and commitment to her constituents. Her longtime belief in the importance of public service and civic engagement guided her both professionally and personally.
In 2002, Edie and her late husband, Charles, relocated to Aiken, South Carolina, where they enjoyed their later years before she ultimately settled in Summerville.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra, and Sandra’s partner, Antonio; her son, Charles; her daughter‑in‑law, Carmen; and granddaughters Aminia, Samantha and Waverly. She will be remembered for her wisdom, her wit and her unwavering strength.
A private family gathering was held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation.
