Edward Paul Lamont, 84, of Emporium, PA, passed away on October 20th at his daughter's home in Wellsboro PA after a long illness. Born December 5, 1940, in Spangler, PA, and raised in Bakerton, PA, Ed was the son of the late Thomas and Frances Hecker Lamont. Growing up in Bakerton he was nicknamed "Mohawk," later shortened to "Mo," a name that stayed with him throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Marsha Ellen Polites, on June 22, 1963, at Sacred Heart Church in Bakerton, PA, and they spent 60 wonderful years together until her passing in 2024.

Ed graduated from John Carroll High School in Carrolltown, PA, Class of 1958, and went on to earn a BS in Education from St. Francis College. Ed taught 6th grade at the Fourth Street School in Emporium from 1962 to 1978. While teaching, he also worked summers with the Northern Tier Community Action Corporation. In the mid-'70s, he earned his Master's in Education Administration from Penn State. Ed transitioned into a different career path in 1978, taking a job with Pennsylvania Pressed Metals (later GKN) as their Personnel Director and Safety Compliance Officer, where he worked until his retirement in 2005.

Ed and his wife, Marsha, were lifelong hosts. Their best times were spent entertaining family and friends, especially at "Camp Hate To Leave It" in Sizerville Park. The camp became the center of family reunions, gatherings with friends, and countless celebrations. Over the years, hundreds of people visited camp, making it a well-known spot for a cold beer, fun, and good times. Mo's camp was more than just a retreat—it was a place of tradition, where stories were shared, cards were played, and memories were made, and those stories continue to bring smiles to everyone who was lucky enough to be part of it.

In his younger years, Mo was an avid baseball player, playing on the St. Francis College team during his college years. After moving to Emporium, he continued that love for baseball by joining both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball leagues, playing well into his 40's. Mo was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing out of his camp with family and friends.

Ed and his wife Marsha loved to dance, especially in their younger days at the Bakerton Club. They continued dancing together throughout their lives, always enjoying a trip around the dance floor whenever they got the chance.
Edward is survived by his daughters Jacqueline (Pete) Grimone, Canonsburg, PA; Sandra (Stan) Dunsmore, Wellsboro, PA; Francine (the late Nick Guisto), Emporium, PA; and son Edward (Monica) Lamont Jr., Las Vegas, NV.
