July 30, 1937 - September 18, 2025

Edward Vincent McVey, 88, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in San Juan Capistrano, California, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Edward's life was marked by integrity, warmth, and enduring faith.

Born in New York City, Edward grew up in the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. He graduated from Cathedral College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, and also pursued studies in divinity school, reflecting a deep spiritual commitment that remained central throughout his life.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserve before beginning a distinguished career in finance. Over more than three decades with Franklin Templeton Investments, he rose to Senior Vice President, earning the admiration of colleagues and clients for his steady leadership and unwavering dedication.

Outside of work, Edward lived with energy and joy. A lifelong golfer and fitness enthusiast, he competed in numerous Pro-Am tournaments alongside PGA professionals—an accomplishment that spoke both to his talent and his passion for the game. His sharp wit and good humor, paired with a generous spirit, endeared him to friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Lorraine Hajjar (McVey), Christine McVey, and Holly Dunlap (McVey); his sons-in-law Norman Hajjar and Alex Dunlap; and his cherished grandchildren Natalie Hajjar, Miles Hajjar, Sadie Dunlap, and Bridget Dunlap. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan McVey (Riddle). In later years, he found renewed companionship with Dinah Moore, whose presence brought love and happiness for over a decade.

A man of patience, kindness, and quiet generosity, Edward touched countless lives through countless acts of support and steadfast love. Guided always by his faith, he met life's challenges with strength and its blessings with gratitude.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, California, on a date to be determined

May Edward's memory be a blessing and a reminder of a life richly and gracefully lived.
