Edward “Ed” Swider, 73, of Middletown, New York, entered eternal rest on September 26, 2025, after bravely facing cancer with strength and grace.
Ed was born on January 24, 1952, to John and Anna Swider, and grew up in Queens, New York. He is survived by his loving sister, Kathleen, and brother, Michael; his children, Edward “EJ” Swider and his wife, Yantri, and Rosemary Swider and her partner, Steven; and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Rowan, Eva, and Emma. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved him deeply.
Ed knew that the true value of life is found in the love and values you pass on to others. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who always put his family first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and the kindness, strength, and love he shared will continue to live on in those whose lives he touched.
Ed’s happiest days were spent fishing, hiking, camping, and wandering the woods he loved so much. He never hesitated to lend a hand—whether helping a friend move or offering support when it was needed most. His deep love of local history and his gift for turning everyday moments into adventures made him unforgettable.
He was a dedicated and caring coworker to all at Park Manor Rehabilitation, where he worked for 15 years and was deeply respected. The kindness and compassion he showed others were returned to him in abundance through the care he received there until the end of his journey.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on November 2, 2025. We invite all who knew him to join us and share a story of Ed or one of his iconic “Edventures” as we honor his memory together.
