Edwin “Ed” Thomas Brown, age 68, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was born on July 16, 1957, in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Rockhurst with the Class of 1975 and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for more than seven years and receiving several commendations. After completing his service, he made San Diego, CA his home and went on to work at General Atomics for 36 years as a Senior RF Technician/PCB Designer in their Photonics division.

Ed was a lover of sci-fi books and movies, and of music—especially jazz and blues. He enjoyed playing darts and was known for making his famous lasagna for his family. Though quiet, he had a smile that warmed your heart. His thoughtfulness and kindness made it easy for anyone who met him to love him. He met his “broda,” Nils B’jorn (Elena), as a neighbor, and their friendship grew into a bond that lasted over 30 years.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed is survived by his son, Almohn Ferrell; his mother, Lois Brown (Ernest); siblings, Deborah Harris (Allan), Marlyn Wilkes, and Steven Brown (Verma); and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

He is also survived by his former wife, Dianne Frost (Al), and his stepdaughter, Aura Stutzman, and her daughter, Grace, with whom he remained close.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest L. Brown; brother, Ernest E. Brown; and his loving niece, Janelle Brown Young.

Inurnment ceremony will be at Miramar National Cemetery on December 12, 2025 at 9:30am.
