Elizabeth Park Choi

Elizabeth (Young Sook) Park Choi was born on 11 November 1933 in Seoul, Korea. In 1965 she left for Los Angeles, California, where she met and married Sung Chil Choi. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and then, in 1978, to Richmond, Virginia, where she remained for over four decades. Trained in accounting, she enjoyed learning about investing, art history, and international cuisine, and along with her husband she traveled widely throughout the United States, Europe, and East Asia. While in Virginia Elizabeth ran her own business restoring and selling antique furniture for many years, and also devoted herself to her husband's care until his death in 2012. In 2022 she immigrated to Canada, where she chose an apartment in downtown Toronto near her daughter, Tina. She continued to live life as she always had - with gusto, an independent and enterprising spirit, and a hearty appetite - up to her final days. She died peacefully, her daughter by her side, on 15 November 2025, just a few days after her 92nd birthday.
