Ella Mae Jefferson
Ella Jefferson, 86, passed away on October 10, 2025, in Maryville, Illinois.
She was born to the parents of John Henry and Earnestine Horton on January 27, 1939, in Canton, Mississippi. She received her High School Degree from Cameron Street School in Canton, Mississippi. She accepted Christ at a young age at Humble Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Canton, Mississippi.
Resident of Rockford, Illinois before moving to St. Louis, Missouri. She worked at Warner Lambert Company in Loves Park, Illinois and Cigna in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was a member of Christian Union Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois. After moving to St. Louis, Missouri she became a member of Light of Jericho Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Rogers. She attended faithfully until the decline of her health.
Predeceased by her Son: Patrick Taylor, Parents: John Henry and Earnestine Horton, Siblings: Bessie Jean Jenkins, John Henry Horton III, and Elbert Horton.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her Children: Toni Taylor of Bloomington, Illinios, Bernard Taylor (Patricia) of Collinville, Illinois, Eric Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland. Granddaughters: Angela Woodard of Bayonne, New Jersey, Arielle Woodard of Bloomington, Illinois. Siblings: Maggie York of Haughton, Louisiana, Glenette Weathersby (Jimmy) of Jackson, Mississippi, Janette Morgan (Seabron) of Highland, Indiana, Albert Horton, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gwendolyn Horton, of Monee, Illinois. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A private funeral will be held in Canton, Mississippi. Scattering of her ashes in Humble Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
