Emery William "Billy" Thomas Jr., 53, passed away on October 21, 2025, in New Jersey. Born on June 10th, 1972, in Suffern, New York, Emery spent much of his life in the tri-state area, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and heartfelt memories.
Emery attended Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ, where he began forming the foundation of his strong work ethic and independent spirit. Over the years, he became known for his dedication and reliability as a sales employee at Costco in Hackensack, NJ—a role he held for 23 years. Beyond his steady career at Costco, Emery also explored various entrepreneurial ventures, always seeking new opportunities and challenges with determination.
He was a man who spoke his mind and lived authentically. Emery’s unique sense of humor was one of his most defining traits—he had an uncanny ability to bring laughter into everyday moments.
Emery is survived by his loving mother Flora Thomas (nee Deramus), who stood by him throughout his life, and her common law husband Carl Amos, His step brothers Anthony and Christopher, and his special friend Carlene. He leaves behind two biological daughters, Amirah and Zadarie; a stepdaughter, Zyadet; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins who will continue to honor his memory.
He will be remembered for the moments of laughter he inspired and the lessons he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace.
