It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ernest Thomas Fox Jr., 91, of Philadelphia, who died peacefully on October 19, 2025, going home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on October 23, 1933, Ernest lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Ernest served on the USS Randolph aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean before returning state side to Jacksonville, FL. It was here where he met his lovely wife, Mavis, on a blind date. Six months later they were married (December 7, 1957) and headed off to Ernie’s hometown of Philadelphia. They shared nearly 70 years together, raising 6 kids in the Philadelphia area before retiring and moving to Tarpon Springs 21 years ago.

Ernie was a natural-born salesman with a gift for conversation. He never met a stranger and could strike up a friendly chat with anyone he met. He was also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, proudly cheering for the Phillies, Flyers, and Eagles through every season. He was fortunate to be able to see a Phillies World Series Championship.

Ernie had a variety of hands-on and creative interests. He pursued his love of classic automobiles, spending countless hours meticulously restoring and working on antique cars. He also found great joy tending to his garden, a hobby that his children continue in their own lives. Together with his wife and best friend, Mavis, he visited 48 of the 50 states, collecting stories and memories with every mile. One of his most treasured trips was to Stuttgart, Germany, where he connected with relatives and explored the city of his mother’s childhood.

Although Ernie will be missed, the family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before him, and in the eternal care of his Lord. Ernest is survived by his beloved wife, Mavis, and their six children: Cheryle (and Scott) Williamson, Karen (and Karl) Foreman, Donna (and Ernie) Di Siro, Michelle (and the late Edward) Karpoich, Kimberlie (and Raymond) Dundas, and Ernest III (and Tracy) Fox. He is also survived by many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Elisabeth and his brother-in-law Joseph (and the late Doris) Moore III.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15th, at 2:00 pm with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church of Elfers, 4050 Redleaf Dr., New Port Richey, FL 34652 For directions and to view the service live go to Fbcelfers.org.
