Eugene "Frank" Hofmeister, 94, of Shoreline, Washington, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025.
Frank was born on September 28, 1931, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Eugene and Anna Hofmeister.
After attending the University of Colorado in Boulder, Frank entered officer training and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. Shortly thereafter, he married his sweetheart, Josephine (Josie) Ann Sedgely.
A Colorado native, Frank had a lifelong love of the mountains—hiking, skiing, fly fishing, and camping were among his favorite pastimes. He shared these passions with family and friends throughout his life. Frank also found great joy in exploring the world, savoring fine food and wine, and creating lasting memories with loved ones.
Professionally, Frank was a dedicated structural engineer who took great pride in his work. After he and Josie relocated to Seattle, he began his career at Boeing. Preferring a smaller, more personal work environment, Frank later joined a mid-sized firm, where he served as a principal for the remainder of his career. Early in his professional journey, he contributed to notable projects such as the Space Needle and the Transamerica Building in San Francisco.
Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, LeeAnn and Daniel, his granddaughter Stephanie, and his daughter-in-law Chris. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Josie and his son Brad.
The family will gather privately to honor and celebrate Frank's life.
