Florence Eleanor Gross

Florence Eleanor Gross, born December 13, 1925, to her mother , Florence Eleanor Hills and father, Thomas Hills, passed away on June 23, 2025, in El Paso, TX, at the age of 99 in the company of loved ones. Florence leaves behind her loving children, Jennifer M. Gross, Steven P. Gross, David J. Gross , Sister Christina Hills-Gourley, niece Carol Gourley-McCoy, niece Susan Smith-Thompson, nephew Kenny Hills, grandchildren Alma Gross, Alan Gross, James Gross, Paul Kross (formerly Gross), Michael McLaughlin-Gross, Autumn Gross, and great grandchildren Michael Gross Jr, Ruby Kross, Grayson Kross, and Leilani Gross. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, Joseph H. Gross, her siblings Cathy Smith and Ronald Hills, Nephew Gary Hills, Niece Cathy Smith, Niece Janice Gourley, and Grandson Joseph Gross.
Florence's was born in London, England and married her husband, who was in the U.S. Nav, near at the end of WWII in England. Her early life was marked by her and her family surviving a German buzz bomb that exploded near her backyard during the Blitz. The family then moved to the town, Honiton, Devon, where she met her future husband, who was stationed nearby in Exeter. After waiting a full year, she was allowed to get on a boat to the U.S. where they soon had a family. They settled in Maryland and then El Paso, TX. Her passing is deeply felt by all who knew her, leaving cherished memories and enduring affection. xox
