Frank J Kotre

Francis (Frank) John Kotre, 72, of Parker, Colorado passed away in his home on November 9th, 2025 surrounded by family.

Frank was born in Evanston, Illinois, on October 16th, 1953, the son of Frank and Mary (Case) Kotre.

He graduated from St. Viator High School then went on to Bradley University, earning a Bachelor's in Political Science. He spent two additional years studying law at Loyola University where he would learn of his aptitude and love for logic and rigor that would lead to his career in computer programming.

Frank married Janet Manoogian on September 29th, 1989 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. They met working for Trans World Airlines, where they kindled a love of travel and experiencing the world together. They were together for 47 years, married for 36, and had three loving children: Emily, Tyler, and Lauren. Frank passed along to his family his sense of curiosity, his love for music, his patience and impatience–which he learned as the older brother of 6 sisters–his love and his pride. He had a quick wit and easy laugh that could always brighten the room, if not embarrass his kids. Frank was a true and loyal friend, many of which he had since kindergarten. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Frank worked as a programmer and software engineer, exploring different applications of his skill set across both the private sector and government contracting agencies. He was an expert in the field in an era where learning a new programming language started with a textbook before writing a single line of code. Outside of work he enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, singing along to heavy metal, and seeking out fun new places to play golf. If you sparked a conversation with him on the topic of golf he would certainly have mentioned Scotland, St. Croix, and Maui as some of the most memorable destinations. He could reliably be found on the course with an early morning tee time, where the golfers respected the pace of play and the greens started nice and slow.

He is survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie (Kotre) Stitt.

A memorial service will be held on December 3rd, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon St, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
