Frank Stanley Sharer, born August 6, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 81. A devoted husband, father, and proud veteran, Frank lived a life marked by courage, curiosity, and kindness.
Frank served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was aboard the USS Oriskany when it caught fire in 1966—an experience that profoundly shaped his outlook on life and deepened his appreciation for friendship, service, and resilience.
After his military service, Frank earned a degree in microbiology from Colorado State University, where he developed a lifelong love of learning and exploration.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Nelse Thompson Sharer, and is survived by his daughters Monique Young (Jeremy Young) and Tiffany Sharer McGehee (Andrew McGehee); his stepdaughters Nelse Miller (Will Miller) and Ellen Otto (Ivo Otto); and many dear friends and family who will forever cherish his memory.
Golf was Frank’s greatest passion. Whether on the course with friends, watching tournaments, or simply enjoying the quiet of the fairway, he found joy, challenge, and peace in the game.
Frank will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and steady grace.
In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. The family encourages those who wish to honor Frank’s memory to make a donation to a veterans’ organization of their choice.
