Frank Melvin Whiteside, Jr., passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 30, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born on July 18, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, Frank lived a life marked by deep devotion to family, enduring friendships, and a passion for the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Frank pursued his education with dedication and purpose. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware before continuing on to receive his Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. His academic journey laid the foundation for his flourishing career in the Financial Services industry.
Family meant everything to Frank. He shared a loving marriage with his late wife, Gail, and together they created lasting memories, especially in Rehoboth Beach—a place they eventually made their home and he cherished as a source of peace after her passing.
Frank was a proud father to Candace Whiteside and Brett Whiteside. His bond with Candace was especially evident through his unwavering support of her athletic pursuits—he never missed a soccer game or even a practice. He also leaves behind his daughter Alissa Whiteside and her two sons. Frank’s brother Gregg Whiteside, along with Gregg’s wife and son, also remain to honor his memory.
A true sports enthusiast, Frank loved both watching and playing. A devoted Phillies fan, he cherished every chance to attend a game. He also shared a deep bond with his close friends Pat and Cliff through their longtime fantasy football team, the “Silver Foxes,” where friendship mattered more than competition. Running was another passion that kept Frank active and connected—he found joy and balance in hitting the pavement.
Evenings often found Frank by the water at Irish Eyes in Lewes—his favorite local spot—where he would unwind with a cold beer and fresh seafood. It was here that he embraced life’s quieter moments: good food, good company, and the calming presence of the sea.
Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Gail; his father Frank Whiteside; and his mother Evelyn Whiteside. Though their absence was deeply felt throughout his later years, he carried their memory forward with grace and strength.
Frank Melvin Whiteside, Jr.’s legacy lives on through those who knew him—as a father who showed up without fail, a friend who ran beside you mile after mile, and a man who found joy in both grand adventures and everyday rituals. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
