Froscina “Frossy” Hand, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Gadsden, Alabama. Born on July 6, 1930, in Miami, Florida, Frossy lived a long and vibrant life filled with love, laughter and spunk.
A devoted wife to her late husband John Hand, Frossy raised their three children—Deborah Thomas (Daryl), Russell Hand, and Susan Cox (Ron)—in Miami. In the 1990s, she moved to Grove City, Ohio where she embraced the charm of small-town life and found joy in her cozy white house on Girbert Street.
Frossy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for her family and proudly displayed photos of her children and grandchildren throughout her home. Her grandchildren—Danielle Bentley (David), Dustin Thomas (Ashley), Cody Cox (Cody), Connor Cox (Erica), and Carly Cox—along with her eight great-grandchildren, have many fond memories around her kitchen table.
She had a passion for cooking and baking, especially during birthdays and holidays when she would prepare homemade meals for her loved ones. Her kitchen was always open to friends and neighbors alike. She made cookies for the girls at Kroger Bakery, treats for the local vet’s office, and she never forgot brownies for the trash collectors. Frossy never missed an opportunity to share her kindness through food. Visitors to her home were often greeted with fresh baked goods from her oven and a warm hug at the door.
Frossy’s love for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms that surrounded her home. She took great pride in nurturing her flower beds and showing off her hydrangeas.
An active member of the United Methodist “Purple Door” church, Frossy found fulfillment in helping others through the church’s food pantry.
Even into her late 80s, Frossy remained energetic and social. She could often be found bowling at Stardust Lanes or chatting with familiar faces at the Stringtown Kroger. Her presence brought comfort to many, and she had a gift for making everyone feel like family.
At times like these, we remember that the Lord has blessed us with many wonderful memories and years that can never be taken from us—memories that remind us of what truly matters in life and all the good times we shared with Frossy.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal service or gathering will take place. Instead, family and friends are encouraged to honor Frossy's memory by sharing stories and celebrating the long life she lived. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial trees may be planted to honor Frossy's enduring love for gardening.
