Gary Glynn Clark

Gary Glynn Clark, of Buna, TX passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Austin, TX surrounded by his family. He was 81.

The family will hold a graveside Funeral service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Antioch Cemetery, 1850 FM 1004, Buna, TX, 77612 with Rev. Cole Clark officiating.

Gary was born May 12, 1944 to Levi Hulon and Willie Fern (Selman) Clark on the family farm in Buna, Texas. He attended Hardin-Simmons University, obtaining a dual Bachelor's degree in English and History while serving as President of Kappa Phi Omega. He went on to earn his Master's in Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Clinical, Counseling and Applied Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center while serving as Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Dallas.

His varied career was tied together by a common thread of leadership and a passion for helping others. From 1980 to 1990 he served as President and CEO of Texas Fiber Products, Inc. in Evadale, then Vice President of Corporate Development for Humanside International in Houston. In the fall of 1994 he felt called to return to ministry and served communities in Longview, China, Willis, and Marlin, Texas over the next 12 years. During this period, he obtained his Ph.D. in Leadership from Houston Graduate School of Theology, completing his doctoral project by building community coalitions for underserved groups such as latchkey children and senior citizens living alone.

In 2007, his path of service led him back to healthcare, where he served as a Chaplain and spiritual leader at Miami Children's Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, and Texas Children's Hospital in Katy. He retired as President and CEO of Clark Consulting, providing executive coaching and leadership development for companies, non-profits and churches.

Beyond his career, Gary will be remembered most for his steady kindness, empathetic nature and sharp wit. He thrived on connecting with others, learning their stories, and helping in any way he could. His loving energy was a gift to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Clark of Austin, his son, Paul Clark and partner Greta Van Raam, and his sister-in-law, Janette Clark of Buna; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Rayford Clark, Bo Clark, Tommy Clark, and Jerry Clark. He will be profoundly missed.
