Geanne Sherwood Davidson, 68, passed away on October 26, 2025 in DeLand, FL. Geanne was born in Muncie, Indiana in 1957 and spent her early childhood living abroad in Europe on military bases with her family. She relocated with her parents and siblings to DeLand during her high school years and lived here until her recent passing. Fellow Indiana native John Mellencamp was Geanne’s favorite musician, and his lyrics feel like a fitting description of her. You can almost hear our “Small Town” Geanne singing these words: “Cannot forget the people who love me; Well, I can be myself here in this small town; And people let me be just what I wanna be.” Despite encountering many challenges throughout her life, Geanne found a community in her small town of DeLand; the place where she attended school, worked, made friendships, and where her children grew up.
After graduating from DeLand High School, she earned an undergraduate degree from University of Central Florida and a master’s degree from Stetson University. As a Certified Public Accountant with a keen aptitude for finance and accounting, Geanne’s crowning career achievement was her role as a financial controller at DeLand’s West Volusia Memorial Hospital.
Geanne was a voracious reader who assuredly read every Danielle Steel book ever written. In each home she lived, all bookshelves, closets, and other available spaces were filled to the brim with books. Never one to be without a pet for long, Geanne had numerous cats and dogs over the years and they were some of her most beloved companions. At the young age of 25, Geanne gave birth to healthy identical triplet boys, such a rare blessing that it made the local newspaper. Years later she went on to have two daughters, single pregnancies each. If you had asked Geanne about her greatest pride, she would have said it was her children.
She is survived by a brother, Robin Sherwood; five children, Christopher Eames, Scott Eames, Shaun Eames, Courtney Nomina, Heather Davidson; and three grandchildren, Weston Eames, Haydn Eames, and David Nomina.
A celebration of Geanne’s life will be held on Saturday, November 29th starting at 12 pm at the DeLand Elks Lodge, where friends and family are invited to honor her memory. The Elks Lodge is located at 614 S. Alabama Ave.
