In addition to his law enforcement career, George served as an instructor at the Cape May County Police Academy, where he helped shape the next generation of officers with his knowledge and experience.

He was a longtime coach with the Middle Township Youth Football organization, where he mentored hundreds of young athletes over the years. George is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Lewis; sons Adrian Lewis, George Lewis Jr., and Curtis Wycliffe (Shannon); daughter Alycia Lewis; mother Pocahontas Lewis; sisters Fayth Wright (Jari) and Enid Pigors (Chris); brothers Leslie Lewis and Gilbert Lewis (Denise). He was preceded in death by his father Leslie Lewis and sister Brenda Lewis.
