Gerald “Jerry” Douglas Alvey, 70, passed away on November 18, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on December 27, 1954, in Fairdale, Kentucky, Jerry was a free spirit, with deep faith, and an unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
Jerry was known for his fierce love for his family. His presence was a source of strength and warmth to those around him. Though he is no longer physically present, the impact of his love will remain etched in our hearts forever.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Shirley. Their three daughters, Kristie (David), Julie (Johnnie), and Amory (Justin). Grandchildren, Anthony, Bailey, Makenna, Peyton, Hunter, TJ, Wyatt, Milo, and Alaina. Sisters, Lori (Dan) and Bonnie (Ed) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ada, father John, sisters Karen & Susan, and son Brett.
A humble and spiritual man, Jerry found comfort and guidance in his faith. It shaped the way he lived—honestly, generously, and with compassion.
Jerry found joy in simple pleasures. He loved listening to his "cowboy" music that stirred memories and emotions alike. Many evenings were spent sitting beside his fire pit under the stars—moments of peace that reflected the quiet strength of his character.
To those who knew him best, Jerry was more than just a man—he was a legend. His presence filled every room with authenticity and love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 21, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Harvest Baptist Church 9205 Brown Austin Rd. Fairdale, KY. 40118.
