Gerald "Jerry" Belcher, a lifelong outdoorsman, proud union brother, and cherished family man, passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 21, 1950 in Newberry, Michigan, to the late Howard and Retha (Baber) Belcher, Jerry grew up with a deep appreciation for the Upper Peninsula's wild beauty. After graduating from Newberry High School, he went on to build a respected career as a heavy equipment mechanic, serving as a dedicated and proud OE Local 324 brother for 56 years.
Jerry found his greatest joy in his family and a life spent in nature. In his younger years, he was the quintessential outdoorsman, pursuing passions such as hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was an avid bowler and golfer throughout his life. In his later years, his love for the outdoors took on a more tranquil form as he found peace and satisfaction in golfing, gardening and cooking, especially grilling for his loved ones.
Jerry was the beloved husband of Deborah Belcher for 30 years. He was a loving father to his children, Melissa Glinke, Paula Belcher (Edwin Reyes), Michelle Reyes (Rolando Reyes), Jeffrey Richmond (Stacy Richmond), Michael Richmond (April Richmond), and Bert Conrad (Gabby Conrad). His legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren: Zac Richmond (Maddy Salo), Kori Richmond, Jeffrey "JJ" Richmond, Ryan Reyes, Sofia Reyes, Ava Nehme, Gianni Reyes, Noah Miller, Sean Glinke, Adam Glinke, and Brandon Glinke.
He is survived by his siblings, Shirley Dunkel, Ron (Debi) Belcher, and Chuck (Cathy) Belcher. Jerry has now been reunited with his several brothers and sisters who preceded him in death.
In accordance with his wishes, Jerry was cremated, and his ashes will be spread in some of his most cherished places throughout the Upper Peninsula.
