Gerrye Johnson Frantz passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, just four days shy of her 78th birthday. Born on October 28, 1947, in Hubbard, Texas, she lived a life marked by deep connections to family, community, and lifelong learning.

Gerrye was the daughter of O. J. Johnson and Frances Anderson Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Communications, an achievement that reflected her dedication to education and personal growth. She went on to dedicate her career to education as an undergraduate student advisor at her alma mater, retiring in 2015 after many years of guiding and encouraging students.

She shared many years of marriage with her beloved husband, F. H. "Woody" Frantz, Jr., who also preceded her in death. Together they built a loving family and a life filled with shared experiences and enduring memories.

Gerrye is survived by her daughter Darby and son Chris; her grandchildren Austin, Abigail, Forrest, Petra, and Parker; her brother Wayne, sister Debra, and sister-in-law Laurie; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.

A woman of many interests and generous spirit, Gerrye was an avid reader who found joy in the written word throughout her life. She loved to travel with friends and explore new places—experiences that brought laughter and lasting friendships. Her faith played a central role in her life; she was active in her church community where she found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship.

Gerrye was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Isaac Low Chapter—a testament to her appreciation for heritage and history. She was also a dedicated member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Preceptor Omicron Rho, where she formed close bonds with fellow members through service and sisterhood.

Her warmth, intelligence, and sense of adventure touched all who knew her. Gerrye’s legacy lives on through the lives she enriched, family members who carry forward her love and traditions, friends who remember her laughter on shared journeys, and communities that benefited from her involvement.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on November 21st at 11:00am at White’s Chapel Methodist Church, Grace Chapel in Southlake. All who loved her are welcome.

May her memory be a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
