Send Flowers
Gracie L.Green, 68, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 22, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. She was surrounded by her loving family and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Harry and Gracie Green (Burwell), Gracie lived a life marked by grace, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the Lord and to her family.

She grew up in Norfolk and was educated in the Norfolk City Public School System, where her talents, intelligence, and determination shined. She later graduated from Lake Taylor High School, home of the mighty Titans. Next, Gracie went on to work for Norfolk State University, the Dental Clinic at the Health Department, and for the State of Virginia, where she dedicated over 30 years of service to the WIC Department. Joyfully, she helped families across the board access vital resources and receive the support they needed. She was selfless, truly loved her career, and enjoyed working with a group of wonderful people, who became lifelong friends. However, having served with compassion and care for many years, Gracie retired from WIC in 2018. Yet, she didn't stop there. In retirement, Gracie continued to thrive and worked as the family-designated income tax preparer in her spare time, which she enjoyed immensely. Moreover, always offering her time and talents with a selfless heart, in 2023, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning her Associate of Science Degree in Business Management from Tidewater Community College-a testament to her perseverance and love of learning. She fought through the pain and never gave up!

Gracie was known for her intellect, radiant smile, love of singing & dancing, and generous heart. She'd give you the world, if she could have. Gracie also served the Lord with gladness and was always there for her family and friends. Her friends held a special place in her heart and family was at the center of her life. Additionally, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings, cousins, and all of her nieces and nephews. They were her favorite dance and karaoke partners, and so much more. Gracie was present for the birth of each grandchild and never missed a birthday party, even at Chuck E. Cheese. She was a brave soul and present in every way. All-around, she was amazing and affectionately called GG" by her grands.

Gracie was preceded in death by her mother and father, four sisters: Marjorie, Mildred, Mamie & Rose, and last, but certainly not least, her beautiful and beloved daughter, Antonette Green Wallace (Antonio). Through it all, Gracie remained a pillar of strength for her entire family, which includes two surviving children: Chanel & Brian Green, seven cherished grandchildren, Chelsey, Kearston, Bryan, & Jacob Green, Toni Wallace, Eliana, & Amir Green, and two great-grandchildren, Emery & Charleigh Thompson. Lastly, she's survived by her brothers and sisters: Dorothy Autry, Brenda Davis (Cornelius), Tywanda Green, Harry Green (Lisa), Tina & Jerry Green, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gracie's spirit lives on in every act of kindness, your favorite line dance, joyful song, and memory shared by those who knew and loved her. She'll be deeply missed and forever remembered.
