Send Flowers
Gregory F. Tornincasa of Yolo, California passed away peacefully 2 days short of his 73rd birthday on October 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 8, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, Greg lived a life filled with integrity, generosity and ambition driven by hard work and a cup of coffee. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him as a kind, fair, and endlessly giving man—someone who always had a treat in his pocket for every dog he met.

Greg’s life was full of accomplishments and passions. Early on, Greg served a brief stent in the Army and commercially fished along the Northern Pacific Coast, later purchasing his own fishing boat, the Seabird. Spending lots of time at Lake Berryessa, he once swam across the lake and back on a dare and became a barefoot water skiing champion.

Greg was married and had two children, Gregory and Kimberly. He later met his soul mate, Marie, and settled with his family in the Bay Area. He was a self-employed contractor, a stock market enthusiast with a gift for numbers, and invested in real estate. During this time, he was offered the opportunity to restore the historic Snowball Mansion in Knights Landing. There, he fell in love with historic architecture and the country way of living. The life he fondly called “GOD’S COUNTRY!”.

To this day an anonymous phone call led Greg and his family to the then dilapidated Victorian built in 1886 in the little town of Yolo. There, he and Marie poured their heart, soul and talent into renovating the property.

Greg loved his family and his pets deeply; some of their happiest moments were spent adventuring together. He traveled the world, always bearing treats for his four-legged friends from the Yangtze River of China to the pyramids of Egypt. He enjoyed camping, boating, and jet skiing on the Sacramento River and Lake Berryessa. In Tahoe he enjoyed snow skiing, bike riding, and hiking with his family. He also took pleasure in taking his grandchildren on fishing trips along the California coast where his early fishing experiences began; even stumbling upon his old boat, the Seabird.

Greg is survived by his wife Marie Ceccato, his children, Gregory Ciro Tornincasa and Kimberly Marie Tornincasa, son-in-law Cory Merrill, and two grandchildren, Maveric and Maxton Merrill. He is also survived by many extended family and wonderful friends. His family takes comfort in knowing that Greg’s spirit lives on through the many lives he touched, legacies he built, and the memories shared in laughter and love.

Funeral services will be held on October 19th at McNary’s Chapel 458 College St., Woodland, CA. at 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at his home in nearby Yolo. Greg’s final resting place will be at the Italian Cemetery in Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the FibroFighters Foundation, to support the fight against Childhood Cancer. FibroFighters is an organization that is supporting treatment, research, and advocacy for many children including Greg’s beloved grandchild.
