Harrison Kenneth "Drafty" Bradford Jr., 83, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. Born on May 4, 1942, he grew up in Pittsburgh, where he spent his life surrounded by family, faith, and community. A standout athlete during his high school years at Scott High School, he was even drafted by the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies— a testament to his remarkable talent and determination.

Affectionately known as "Drafty," a nickname given because his father was drafted into the service when he was born, Harrison lived a life defined by fun and laughter. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, later worked at U.S. Steel and devoted countless hours as an umpire for USA Softball, where his fairness and good humor were well known. He was even inducted into the Pittsburgh Black Softball Hall of Fame in 2022.

A man of faith later in life, Harrison served as Chairman of the Trustees at First Baptist Church of Braddock Hills, where he left a lasting mark. In his later years, he found joy in baking zucchini bread and sweet potato pies, sharing them generously with friends, neighbors, and his church community.

Harrison is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Diane; his son Shannon; his daughter Monika; his brother Melvin; five grandchildren, three grand fur babies, along with many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison Kenneth "Kiddo" Bradford Sr. and Margaret "Maggie" Bradford, as well as his brothers Morris Bradford and Willie Glaze.

Harrison was strong-willed and never shy about speaking his mind — qualities that kept those around him on their toes. His stubborn streak was only matched by his mother's, but he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Willow Way Worship Center at 736 Washington Street, Braddock, PA 15104 on Thursday, October 30th from 10-12 with service following at 12. Repast will take place at the New Hope Multi Center afterwards.
