Henry J. Donabedian, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 62, in Methuen, MA, due to medical complications from cancer. Born on December 10, 1962, in Melrose, MA, Henry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a passion for his interests, and a career that spanned over four decades.
Henry's early life in Wakefield was marked with the tragic loss of his mother and father at an early age. He was raised by his maternal grandparents and uncle (Carlos) who instilled the importance of family. Henry graduated from Wakefield High School and earned his Associate's Degree from Bunker Hill Community College. He then embarked on a successful career in retail sales, specializing in tire sales in his later years.
Henry's love story with his late wife, Jean Dwyer Donabedian, was one of deep companionship and shared dreams. Together, they built a family that would be Henry's greatest pride, where he spent 10 years as a stay-at-home dad. Raising his sons, Costas and Luke, with love and attention that would shape their lives forever.
His love for his family was unparalleled, and he was a doting abuelito to his granddaughter Ruvalee, the daughter of Luke Donabedian and his wife Mackenzie Ansin. His dog daughter, Minx, was never far from his side, providing joy and companionship throughout his later life.
Henry's interests were as varied as he was passionate. He was an avid fan of the rock band KISS, and his enthusiasm for automobiles knew no bounds, encompassing classics, supercars, and everything in between. Sundays were reserved for cheering on his beloved New England Patriots, a tradition he held dear.
Those who knew Henry would describe him as loving, kind, and funny—a man who could light up a room with his humor and warmth. His presence was a source of comfort and laughter, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Henry is survived by his sons, Costas Floros and Luke Donabedian; daughter-in-law, Mackenzie Ansin; granddaughter, Ruvalee Ansin-Donabedian; brother, Juan Donabedian; sister-in-law, Beth Donabedian; uncle (Tio), Carlos Akmakdjian; cousins Martin Euredjian and Monica Euredjian and their respective families; father-in-law, John Dwyer Sr.; sister-in-law, Kathie Dwyer; and nephew, Eric Dwyer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Dwyer Donabedian; parents Juan (Sr) and Maria Perla Donabedian; mother-in-law, Marie Dwyer; and brother-in-law, John Dwyer Jr.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Henry lived by these words, and his legacy is a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and the tireless pursuit of happiness.
Henry's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, surrounded by those who loved him most. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to honor Henry’s memory through a contribution to a fundraising page created in his name. As he lived fighting with type 2 diabetes, this fund supports ongoing efforts to prevent, treat, and ultimately cure the disease.
