Herbert “Butch” Charles Colmorgen, 84, of Ellenton, FL passed away on
October 27, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, Carol, his daughter Samantha Irizarry, and his sister Barbara Gill.
Herb is survived by his daughter, Laura (Steve) and his sons, John (Amy), Mark (Deena), Matthew (Julie), and Luke (Angela).
PopPop or Poppy as he was affectionally known, also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Not to forget his beloved dog, Mona.
Herb was born in 1940 in Red Bank, New Jersey to his parents, Herbert and Elizabeth. He spent his youth in Monmouth County, NJ.
He joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola FL where he was a helicopter mechanic.
He also lived in York, SC.
He was an auto mechanic by trade.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. Photography, music, model rockets, playing cards and dice games, gardening, fish tanks, and building model railroads.
Herb never met a stranger. He made friends wherever he went and had many colorful stories and jokes to tell about his life.
No services are planned at this time. His family will have a private celebration of his life at a later date.
