Herman Monroe Clopton, Jr, 83, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on September 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma, to "Slim" and Nellie (Cole) Clopton. Butch grew up in an oil industry community. He embraced both hard work and faith at an early age, values which guided him through life.

After high school graduation he studied electronics at Oklahoma State University where he met and later married Kay Young on September 7, 1962. Christ was always central in their home.
Before finishing college, Butch worked summers as a roughneck on drilling rigs, a truck driver for Halliburton, and with logging crews with Welex.
After earning his degree in electronics, Butch's career
as an industrial instrumentation salesman spanned Oklahoma and Texas working for National Tank Company, Invalco, and ITT Snyder.
In 1970, he opened an office in Anchorage, Alaska, for ITT Snyder. Later, he was part owner of Engineered Equipment Company of Alaska.
Butch is survived by his wife Kay, whom he adored, and their four children: Jeff Clopton, Kandy Broderick, Juliana Wood, and Analisa Steger. They have ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister, Joyce Clopton Howell, and her family.
Butch had an adventurous spirit, obtaining his private pilot license and scuba certification. He will be remembered as a Dad that always had an answer, a playful Popop, and loved by all who knew him.
