It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Howard Kaiser of Fairfax, Virginia.
Howard died on November 10, 2025 with his loving wife Susan (also known as Shoshannah) by his side at Fairfax Inova Hospital. Howard was a true health warrior for many months, but his autoimmune disease bullous pemphigoid led to sepsis among other complications.
Howard was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 25, 1954 to Freda and Joseph Kaiser. Howard spoke endlessly about his fond childhood memories and how lucky he was to have grown up in such a close, loving family. Howard graduated from George Washington High School where he competed on the chess team and played basketball after school, passions that stuck with him for life.
Howard graduated from The University of Pennsylvania where he studied astronomy and physics. Howard received his J.D. from New York Law School and spent several decades as a patent attorney at the U.S. Department of Navy until he retired. Howard was awarded the third highest civilian medal of honor from the Navy for his decades of hard work. Howard took pride in consistently surpassing expectations with his exemplary patent work — accomplishments for which he was widely admired.
Howard was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan. He remained a lifelong fan of the Quakers basketball team at the University of Pennsylvania. Some of his fondest memories include attending the Philadelphia Flyers back to back parades in the 1970s in order to celebrate the “Broad Street Bullies” Stanley Cup victories, and watching college basketball games at the Palestra with his friends.
Howard is survived by his brother Steve (Carla); his niece Melanie (Alex); his devoted wife of over 31 years Susan; his three children Jessica (Fernando), Abraham Joshua, and Jillian; his grandchildren Tori and FJ; and his dog Spock. Howard will be sorely missed by all.
