Ivan Thompson

Ivan Ralph Thompson, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on October 2, 2025, in Wright City, Missouri.

Born on December 12, 1940, to the late Ralph Porter Thompson and Viola Pauline Thompson in the front bedroom of their home in North County, Ivan was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Clyde Charles Thompson, Earl Edward Thompson, Allen Paul Thompson, Glen James Thompson, Doris Ann Thompson, and Joyce Pauline Thompson. Ivan was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen Thompson, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Ivan dedicated 34 years of his life to the Riverview Gardens School District, serving as a teacher, counselor, and coach. His fondest memories were of coaching the wrestling teams in the late 1960s and 1970s. He took immense pride in their performance on the mat and their accomplishments in life beyond the sport.

He spent much of his free time at the family farm, which he shared with his brother Glen, indulging his passion for deer and turkey hunting. There, he spent countless hours sharing stories, playing cards, drinking beer, and building friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Ivan is survived by his long-time friend turned love, and selfless caregiver, Marsha Vogel; his son Kip Thompson (Maria Travers); and his cherished grandsons, Nico and Luca, who were, alongside Kathleen, the loves of his life.
