Jack Shore, a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, accomplished patent attorney, and lifelong learner, passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 99.
Born on July 9, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio, Jack's early years shaped a life defined by intellectual curiosity, integrity, and service. After serving in the Navy, he pursued his education on the GI Bill, earning his bachelor's degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and later his Juris Doctor from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Jack built a distinguished career as a patent attorney and was a longtime partner at Dressler Goldsmith Shore and Milnamow. His passion for the law extended beyond the courtroom—he spent many years teaching at John Marshall Law School, now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where he mentored generations of aspiring attorneys.
Jack was known not only for his legal acumen but also for his love of bridge and books. A voracious reader and avid card player, he found joy in strategy, storytelling, and spirited conversation.
Jack was a long-time resident of Evanston, IL, Water Tower Place in Chicago, IL and, most recently, at The Carrington at Lincolnwood in Lincolnwood, IL.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Shore (1999), and his second wife, Estelle "Dimpy" Holzer (2021). Jack is survived by his children Debbie Shore, Ken Shore (Maggie), and Andrea Kawer (Stanton), by his beloved grandchildren Lindsey Spiwak Kerr, Joe Spiwak, Sam Spiwak, Henry Shore, Deirdre Shore, Will Shore, Emma Scahill (Reed), Lily Kawer, and Eden Kawer and by his two great grandchildren Myles Kerr and McKenzie Kerr.
