Jack Walter, 63, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. Jack was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 6, 1962 to the late Charles "Bob" Walter and RoseMary Wood Walter.
Jack leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that touched everyone who knew him. He cherished his faith, family and friends above all else. They were the center of his world. He especially loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. They brought him so much joy.
Jack's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He lived his life guided by Christian values, sharing kindness, compassion, and hope with those he met. He was always prepared and excited to share his faith in Jesus Christ.
In addition to his love for his family and friends, Jack was a passionate fan of Michigan sports, faithfully cheering on the Wolverines, Lions, Tigers and Redwings through every season and game. He found immense joy in sharing victories and tough losses alike with friends and family, always sporting his team colors with pride. Alongside his love for sports, Jack adored his dogs, who were loyal companions and a constant source of happiness.
Jack will be dearly missed, but his joyful laughter and generous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy is carried on by his loving family, many friends, and all who were blessed to cross paths with him.
Jack is survived by his children Jessica Deal (Tyler), Jaclyn Ferrell (Matt) and Jason Walter; grandchildren Benen Deal, Landon Ferrell, Brier Deal, Lacey Ferrell and Liam Ferrell; siblings Dennis Walter (Kathy), Bev McBurney (Chuck) and Doug Walter (Rose); many nieces and nephews; ex-wife but lifelong friend Dawn Walter; and longtime companion Annie Grossman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and RoseMary, and sister Barb Hintz.
We will be celebrating the life of Jack Walter this Saturday October, 11th at 11:00am at Fellowship Baptist Church, 450 Muldee St Durham, NC 27703. For those who cannot attend there will be a live stream at fbcofdurham.org.
