Jacquelyn (“Jackie”) Wendell Dunning, 68, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Ann and Harry Wendell, and raised in Old Bridge, Jackie grew up surrounded by extended family and lifelong friends. She spent most of her life in Brielle, New Jersey, with her husband and children before relocating to Naples in later years. Always a true Jersey girl at heart, Jackie carried her warmth, charm, and vibrant spirit wherever she went.
From an early age, Jackie showed independence and determination, beginning work at The Children’s Place to save her own money. She later worked for an orthopedic surgeon and a law office before dedicating herself fully to motherhood and homemaking — a role she embraced wholeheartedly. In later years, she became a Master Gardener, sharing her love of plants and flowers with friends and her community.
Jackie’s infectious smile, generosity, and warmth left a lasting mark on everyone she met. She was devoted to her family, her friends, and her community, regularly supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. She also loved playing tennis, tending her garden, and enjoying the outdoors.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Laurence (“Larry”) Dunning, in 2024. She is survived by her children, Chelsea and Jake Dunning; her mother, Ann Wendell; her siblings, Elizabeth (Betty-Anne) Wendell Bell (and her husband, George), Eileen Wendell Robinson (and her husband, Charlie), and Harry Wendell Jr.; her aunts; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Jackie will be remembered for her beauty, inside and out, her infectious personality, her unwavering kindness, and the profound and lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial/celebration of life will be held at Squan Tavern in Manasquan, New Jersey on Saturday, December 6th - a place Jackie and her family cherished. The time will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House in her memory.
