James Michael "Jimmy" Dickey, 74, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. Born in Union, Mississippi, to the late Evelyn and James Dickey, he was raised in Jackson, Tennessee, where his kindness and easygoing nature earned him lifelong friends.

A gifted athlete, Jimmy hit a home run at age nine, a family legend that sparked his lifelong love of baseball. He was a devoted New York Yankees and Mickey Mantle fan and a proud supporter of Vanderbilt athletics.

At Jackson High School, Jimmy served as class president, a role that perfectly suited his generous spirit and gift for connection. What began as a high school leadership role became a lasting commitment to friendship. For more than 50 years, Jimmy stayed in touch with his classmates, bringing people together and keeping their connections strong. He attended Vanderbilt University, where he played football for the Commodores and was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Jimmy built a fulfilling career with Nashville Ready Mix, a company he loved and truly considered family. His warmth and good humor made him a beloved colleague and friend.

A faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church, he lived his faith through generosity and compassion.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Patti, Janice, Michael, and Danny. He is survived by his sister Julie Gutch (Wayne) of Memphis, TN, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished him as a constant source of love and laughter.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Barry and Connie Brooks, whose steadfast friendship and care were among the greatest gifts of Jimmy's life.

Jimmy will be remembered as a kind, loyal, and generous man. A devoted brother, beloved uncle, true friend, and proud Commodore whose life was a testament to faith, friendship, and the joy of bringing people together.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, TN, with visitation at 10 AM and Mass at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Vanderbilt Athletics Fund.
