James (Jim) Patrick Collins, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, with his daughter by his side.
Born on April 15, 1960, Jim was predeceased by his parents, Sally and James Collins, and his brother, Sean Collins. He is survived by his loving daughter, Caitlin Collins; his sister, Kelley Collins, and her husband Bob Kelley; his niece, Jessica Stever; his nephew, Sean Collins; his aunts, Shirley McMahon and Joanne Collins; many cousins; his countless incredible friends who became like family over the years; and also his chosen family, Caitlin's sister Brianna Caprari and her boys who lovingly referred to Jim as "Bobo."
Jim lived a life of service and heart. He began his career as an EMT in the 1980s, later working in engineering before returning to the field he loved most, emergency medical services, for the past five years. He was passionate about helping others and took great pride in the care he provided to his community.
The bond between Jim and his daughter, Caitlin, was extraordinary, built on unwavering love, laughter, and mutual strength. They shared an unbreakable connection that carried them through every season of life together.
Jim was also blessed with lifelong friendships, including a close crew of high school friends who gathered every year for their cherished hunting trips. His best friend, Tom Robinson, and that loyal group of friends were a constant source of support, especially during his final months.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to everyone who surrounded Jim and Caitlin with love, prayers, and encouragement. A special thank you is also extended to Westchester Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to share memories, laughter, and stories in honor of the unforgettable man he was.
