He was fondly known as JP, Jim, Big Jim or Jimmy to family and friends. Jim passed away peacefully after battling cancer.
Jim was born to Mary Lawless (Clarke) January 28, 1948, in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed his youth with his brother (Daniel Lawless) being raised with a cousin and many uncles and aunts nearby. He was drafted to the Vietnam War in 1968 where he served honorably in the Army. He met the love of his life, Karen Lawless (Schuler), in 1970 and together they built a loving and caring family life. Throughout his career he worked in both industry and for the US Department of Defense. He was able to enjoy retired life with family and friends.
Jim was an avid St. Louis Cardinal, Philadelphia Eagles, Alabama Football, and Indiana Fever Fan. He was always watching a game or at a game for one of his grandsons.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and loyal friend. He is survived by his children: Annie Daniel (Marco), Paul (Beth), Jimmy Kieu (Holly), his grandchildren Seamus, Elias, Connor and Ethan, brothers- in -law, sisters-in-Law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim loved life and being with his family. Jim was very curious and had a very unique way of looking at life; his perspective will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Lawless (Schuler); his parents, Mary and James Timothy Lawless; and his brother, Daniel "Danny" Lawless.
Funeral Services with Full Military Honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO at a later date. A private memorial service is also being planned in Madison, AL.
