It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Seamus) P. McArdle, who left us peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home in Nokomis, Florida. James was a husband, devoted father, brother, uncle and loyal friend. His warmth, generosity, and friendly nature touched the lives of all who knew him.
James was born in Jonesborough, County Armagh, Ireland and immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island traveling on the ship Britannic in Nov. 1951. He grew up with a deep love for family, advancing his career, and service. He graduated from Father Judge High School and was drafted into the US Army, where he forged lifelong friendships and served his country as a sergeant in Korea. James dedicated his life to providing for his family and made a positive, lasting impact on everyone he met.
James is survived by his wife, Kathleen McArdle; his children, James W. McArdle (Judy Giering), Bridget McArdle Newberry (Todd Newberry), and Patrick McArdle; his grandchildren, Mary Kate McArdle, Will McArdle, Tess McArdle, and Grace Newberry; as well as many extended family members, including his sister Rose, brother Mehaul, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Mickey McArdle, mother Mary McArdle, and his sister Maureen Reilly.
James will be remembered for his clever wit, infectious laughter, unwavering work ethic, and the kindness he showed to everyone. He enjoyed staying up to date on the news, taking photos, the Florida beaches and cooking a good ham. His outgoing and generous spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of James's life will be held in the Spring of 2026 in Pennsylvania. Shay's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and infinite fond memories will remain with us always. May he rest in eternal peace.
