James “Jim” Schweiger
Bridge Silver Life Master, devoted family man, sports enthusiast
1935 – 2025
James “Jim” Schweiger passed away peacefully in 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 90 years old.
Jim lived a life marked by quiet wit, steadfast devotion, and a deep love for games — especially Bridge and golf. As a Silver Life Master, he brought precision and joy to every hand he played, earning respect across the Bridge community. On the golf course, he found serenity and challenge, often sharing rounds with friends and family. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Jim cheered with passion and loyalty, never missing a chance to celebrate a touchdown or debate a play.
He proudly served in the Army Reserves and graduated from Duquesne University in 1960 with a degree in accounting. Jim went on to build a distinguished career at Main Hurdman, where he worked for over 25 years and retired as Regional Managing Partner — a role that reflected both his leadership and integrity.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Schweiger, who passed away on January 29th of this year. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, commitment, and shared joy. He was also predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Milligan and his brother Gerard Schweiger.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Steve Schweiger (Anne-Marie), Susan Salazar (Bill Potter), and Richard “Rick” Schweiger (Mia Seifert). His legacy continues through a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply and celebrated wholeheartedly. Jim is also survived by his sisters George Ann “Georgie” Paladino and Karen Maniet, whose lives remain beautifully intertwined with his.
Jim’s presence was gentle but strong — a man who led by example, listened with care, and found joy in the details. Whether crafting a clever Bridge bid, mentoring colleagues, or offering a quiet word of encouragement, he made those around him feel seen and valued.
His memory lives on in the stories we tell, the games we play, and the traditions we carry forward. Jim Schweiger’s life was a masterclass in dignity, humor, and love.
