James M. "Jim" Welch, 59, of West Melbourne, Florida, passed away on September 29, 2025. Born on August 10, 1966, in Sanford, Maine, Jim was the beloved son of the late Wallace and Constance Welch.
Jim proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that remained one of his greatest sources of pride throughout his life. After his service, he carried forward the same values of dedication, camaraderie, and generosity in everything he did. Known for his boisterous laugh and boundless humor, Jim was the life of every conversation and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to others.
A man of many passions, Jim loved to ride motorcycles, collect firearms, and teach others about safety and responsibility in their use. He very much adored all the dogs he had over the years, especially Rocky and Beau. They held a special place in his heart until the very end. He was also an avid reader and a dedicated member of his bowling league. Above all, Jim cherished his family—his daughters, Harley Welch and Jamie Cole, were his greatest joy. Ten months prior to his passing, he married his best friend, Sue Ann Biggs, with whom he shared deep affection and happiness.
He also called Athens, Pennsylvania home for many years, where he started and built his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sue Ann; daughters, Harley of Waverly, New York, and Jamie, and husband Teylor, of Sayre, Pennsylvania; his sister, Abigail Craig and her husband, Matthew of Palm Bay, Florida; and brother, Jeffry Welch, and wife Dana, of Milton, New Hampshire. Jim also had three delightful grandchildren: Molly, Maisie, and Ronin. He was very close to his aunt Chris and her husband, Dave and spent lots of time with them, making special memories. His warmth, laughter, and big-hearted spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him, especially his beautiful daughters.
