With hearts full of love and gratitude, we remember Jane Ellen (Puetz) Hobneck who passed away in the home of her daughter in Kailua Kona, Hawaii on October 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 74 years old.
Born on July 8, 1951, to Bob and Norma Puetz, she was surrounded by the warmth of a large family and the guiding strength of her faith — roots that shaped the grace and compassion she carried throughout her life.
She graduated from Tonica High School as valedictorian, and Illinois State University with a degree in Deaf Education. Jane was a born leader, with her quiet strength and gentle kindness.
She married her husband, Gil in 1973, and resided in Bloomington, Illinois before moving to Tennessee, actively participating and working in their Landscaping business.
Jane brought patience, care, and grace to everything she did — and her hands were rarely still. She infused love into every moment. Jane's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, strength and love that never faded — the kind that lives on in the stories her family will tell and the gentle ways they will remember her.
She will live on in the hearts of her children Beck Hobneck (Cindy Hawthorne), Michael (Kristen) Hobneck, Sara (Justin) Ballard; son in law Jody Wilson; grandchildren Miley and Declan Hobneck, Briley, Adalyn, Charlotte and Henry Ballard; siblings Jim (Janet) Puetz, Mary (Bob) Hinkey, Dan (Deb) Puetz, Rosann (Jack) Derlein, Alice Puetz, Bill (Kim) Puetz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law. Along with her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Hobneck, daughter Angela Wilson; brothers Micheal Puetz and David Puetz.
Visitation will occur November 23rd 2025 at Tonica United Methodist Church, 423 E Wauponis St, Tonica, IL from 1-4pm.
In Jane's memory we ask that you enjoy your favorite beverage (hers was a mocha freeze) somewhere with a nice peaceful view.
