Janet Marie (Tamminen) Stella was peacefully called away from this life, surrounded by her family, on November 3, 2025.
Born in Winsted, CT, Janet was the daughter of the late Carmela (Diulio) and Herman Tamminen.
While dedicating her life to caring and providing for her family, Janet pursued her college education and built a successful career in business as a management executive.
She achieved remarkable accomplishments for a woman of her generation; for over 25 years, she served as the only female executive at the Danfield Threads Corporation in Winsted.
Janet was an inspiring role model, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to her family and to so many others throughout her lifetime.
Artistic and musically gifted, Janet shared her creativity with her family and inspired future generations to discover and nurture their own natural talents.
She gave back generously to her community by volunteering, donating to local organizations, and serving as President of the VFW Post 296 Women’s Auxiliary.
Janet enjoyed traveling across the country and internationally with her family and beloved friends. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who adored calling her Nona.
With her unexpected passing, Janet leaves behind a life rich with love, family, and laughter. Her unwavering strength, independence, and devotion to those she loved will be deeply remembered.
Her memory will live on through her daughter Catherine Stella, and son, Michael; her son Joseph Stella, Jr., his wife Juanita, and their children Chris, Casey, and Steven, along with his son Jadence; and her daughter Nancy, her husband Scott Mueller, and their children Alex, Haley, and Nicholas, his wife Erika, and their sons Zachary and Lucas.
Janet is lovingly survived by her brother, John Tamminen; her sister, Susan, and her husband, George Closson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her siblings Anita Nelson, Richard Tamminen, Peter Tamminen, and Patrick Tamminen.
A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date.
