Janice Uncapher-Corless (Pinzino) passed away on November 19, 2025, leaving behind a life marked by family, adventure, and a deep sense of Italian pride in her family's roots. Born October 1, 1945, in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the daughter of Octavio (“Otto”) and Marilyn Pinzino (Rohrs). She grew up in a lively household with four sisters: Sharon (Keith, Bailey), Gloria (Morton), Gina (Hudecek), and Deborah (Monsanto). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sharon.
She made her first splash in life in the Apple Blossom parade in her hometown of St Joseph, Missouri, at age 6. A 1963 graduate of Central High School, where she built a life that was anything but small. She and her then-husband, Mike Corless, ran a successful travel agency for many years, a venture that let her indulge her lifelong curiosity about the world. Of all the places she explored, Hawaii held her heart, and she returned there as often as she could.
Janice later moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she met her husband, Ed Uncapher. Together, they enjoyed the rhythm of beach life and the warmth of Florida’s weather, which suited her far better than Missouri winters ever did. She loved cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and never missed an opportunity to proclaim that Patrick Mahomes was the greatest player ever.
Her faith in Jesus Christ grounded her, not in slogans but in how she treated people. Whether people were richer or poorer than her, she gave the same love to all of His children. For decades, she served as a Guardian Ad Litem for children and families in crisis throughout Florida. She spoke up for kids who had no one else to stand with them, and many of those children’s lives are better because she was in them. Janice also loved to dance — and she made sure her family did, too. Weddings, parties, high school events, or any gathering with music were fair game. If there was a dance floor, she was on it, usually pulling someone else along with her. It was one of the ways she showed her joy, and it’s one of the memories her family will hold onto.
She is survived by her two sons, William Michael Corless, Jr., of Boone, Iowa, and Theodore Anthony Corless, of Boulder, Colorado; her granddaughters, Michaella Kinyon and Thea Corless; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Paisley, and Abel. She is cherished by an extended family of cousins spread across the country, all of whom proudly share the same Italian heritage she celebrated throughout her life.
Janice will be missed for her smile, her golden heart and easy charm. She leaves behind a family who adored her, a legacy shaped by resilience and joy in living and loving among her family and many close friends.
While no current plans have been made, a memorial in St. Joseph, Missouri, will be scheduled in the immediate future. Any cards, letters, or other condolences can be sent to Janice Uncapher, ℅ Ted Corless, 5235 Old Stage Road, Boulder, Colorado 80302, and will be shared throughout her family.
