Janita (Nita) Joyce Allison passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 11, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born to Joyce Lou Mize and James Willis Roddy on December 19, 1945 in Greenville, Texas. Nita married Jerry David Walden after graduating from Greenville High School in 1964. Jerry and Nita moved around during his time in the military, and they had two sons, Quentin Scott born in 1968 and Jeromy Todd born in 1972. In 1988, Nita married Robert David Allison who had a daughter, Chissica.
Nita worked at General Motors, Honeywell, and Countrywide, most notably, before retiring. She was raised Assembly of God and attended House of Prayer, Central Assembly of God, and Wesley St Assembly of God churches in Greenville throughout her upbringing. In recent years, she attended Legacy Church in Springtown, TX.
Nita loved to sing, and she competed at the state level with the Greenville High School Choir. In the late 1970s, she recorded some country demo tapes, including one for EmmyLou Harris. In 1984, Nita was selected to audition and compete on an early reality show called "You Can Be A Star" in Nashville. As the years went on, Nita's beautiful voice continued to fill the air as she sang quietly to her grandbabies, and the kids loved it.
Along with her love of singing, Nita loved to cook. She would put together a meal fit for a king and she would enjoy every moment of it. She would plan it for days, make everything from scratch, and make sure she made something that everyone liked. She saw to it that nobody went without. Her cooking was truly home made, Southern, delicious and welcoming.
Nita also loved to travel. Aside from road trips throughout the US and a couple of cruises, she took multiple trips to Graceland to see the home of her second favorite king, whom she insisted she was supposed to marry and grow old with.
Nita made friends everywhere she went, nobody was a stranger to her. She loved doing anything she could to help people, she truly had a servant's heart. She loved her grandkids and daughters in law immensely and treasured the time she spent with them. Nita would do anything for her boys and always made sure they knew how much she loved them. Those who knew and loved Nita were blessed, and though she is no longer here on this side of Heaven, rest assured we will be with her again on the other side.
Nita is survived by her sons, Scott (Kelley) Walden and their children, Chloe, Cameron (Kami), and Cajer, Jeromy (Stephanie) Walden and their children, Andrew Slape, Miranda, and Nicholas, step-daughter Chissica Godfrey and her children, Chelsea (Everett) Hoffman, Chase Ramirez, and Emily, sister Candice (Rob) Rose, brothers Ronnie (Sharon) Roddy, and Dale (Diana) Roddy, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, James, mother, Joyce, and sister, Angela Mixson.
