Jaudon Hunter Williams (we call her Memomma), 92, went home to be with her Lord on November 6, 2025. Born in Macon, GA, she was the only child of Marshall Keith Hunter and Carter Jaudon Hunter, both deceased. She was a graduate of Anniston High School and Gulf Park Woman's College. She married Frederick Williamson Williams Jr on November 22nd, 1954. Jaudon worked as the financial administrator at the Anniston Juvenile Court and as the administrative assistant for the operations director of Super Valu Corporation. Fred and Jaudon had two children, Frederick Marshall Williams (1956) and Virginia Carter Williams (1959).
Jaudon loved life. She loved to dance and taught dance for many years to girls in Anniston. She lived life to the fullest - dancing, playing tennis, and bridge. She was a voracious reader keeping the local library stocked with the latest New York Times best sellers when she had finished them. She was a seamstress extraordinaire. She beaded jewelry, sewed, quilted, smocked and needle pointed. Not only did she make clothes for herself, she found patterns, properly adjusted them and handmade clothes for her children and grandchildren. She often sent us to school proudly strutting a "Memomma Original" item decorated with hand traced images of the latest Disney and superhero characters on them. She often worried that the police would show up at her door and arrest her for copyright infringement. It did not stop her. She made quilts of all sizes. Every one of the children and grandchildren has handmade quilts for our beds, babies and furniture. As with many creative folks, her workspaces looked like a tornado alley. Vacuum cleaners were routinely replaced due to cleaning up countless quilting and straight pins, needles and strips of cloth. She is a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and spent hours preparing and delivering meals, writing notes to shut-ins, praying for prayer requests and helping create banners which decorate the sanctuary to this day. She is remembered for her cooking everything from angel food cakes to "Memomma cinnamon rolls" which she often sent to us wherever we were, even overseas. She was always cheering and encouraging and supporting her children and grandchildren in everything they did. She raised and adored her two labrador retrievers - Uno and Murdoch. She spent hours taking them on walks and to the lake where they would swim for hours. They became her surrogate children. She was a member of the Anniston Bridge Club for 50+ years and played competitively well into her 80's. She earned the rank of Bronze Life Master a few years before moving to Atlanta to be closer to her children at the age of 89. She moved into a retirement community and immediately began making wonderful friends. Her favorite pass times were sharing stories of life and family, staying mentally sharp discussing events of the day and playing games, enjoying dining room comradery and praising the staff as she was always under their watchful eye. Most of all, she enjoyed access to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always teaching us to gracious and kind. She passed peacefully under the watchful eye of hospice and her family.
Jaudon leaves behind her son Marshall (Sherri) Williams of Dunwoody and her daughter Virginia (Michael) Benist of Stone Mountain; grandchildren, Heike (Markus) Kreitzer of Huntsville, AL; Daniel (Miranda) Williams of St. Louis, MO; Ali (Taylor) Korf of Smyrna, GA; and Wesley (Ayane) DeBardeleben of Tokyo Japan and 8 great-grandchildren.
