Send Flowers Plant A Tree
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Martin, who left this world on October 19, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving husband, William (Bill) Martin, and her devoted daughter, Debbie Rae Peters. Jean was born on May 30, 1946, in Dublin, Virginia, and spent her life creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Bill, with whom she shared 24 wonderful years of love and companionship, as well as her devoted daughters, Debbie Rae Peters and Lorie Peters Grabham, and her son Jerry Peters. Jean took great pride in being a grandmother to Taylor Grabham, Sophia Grabham, Aiden Peters, and Olivia Peters. Through her marriage to Bill, she embraced a blended family and cherished her stepchildren, Chrissy (Dave) Cook, Billy Martin, and Tricia (Derek) Hannon, as if they were her own. Her bonus grandchildren—Alana Cook, Juliette Martin, and Brayden Hannon—brought her immense joy with their visits. Additionally, Jean shared a special bond with Lorie's longtime fiancé, Gary Bruyns, and his children: Abigail, Mason, Nettie, Judah, and Serenity, who she welcomed into her heart with open arms. Her grandchildren will especially miss her unforgettable, tight, and loving hugs. Jean is also survived by her youngest sister, Virginia (Gabby) Webb, with whom she shared countless life journeys and adventures. She cherished her nieces and nephews: Kim Meade, Bobbie (Angie) Drummond, Rainey Hetznecker, and Dale Parker, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
In recent years, Jean and Bill moved to Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where they purchased the house of her dreams and enjoyed living there for the last five years. Family was everything to Jean; she loved creating traditions and celebrating the holidays with those she held dear. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Each season, she would decorate her home with heartfelt touches and a spirit of joy that brightened the lives of everyone who entered.
Jean had a great sense of humor and loved to pull pranks on her sisters, bringing laughter and joy to their lives. Her playful spirit and infectious laughter will be cherished and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Peters Grimm, her brother Robert (Bobby) Drummond, and her sister Carol Drummond Hetznecker. We find comfort in knowing that they are now reunited in heaven.
Jean will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit, kindness, humor, and devotion to family will forever remain in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held on (we will add once finalized details of memorial service), where close family members will come together to honor her memory.
Jean had a deep love for animals, often nurturing and caring for them with the same warmth and compassion she showed to her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bangor Humane Society (bangorhumane.org) in Jean's name, to continue her legacy of love and compassion for animals.
